I am heading the Research Group "Quantum Information and Quantum Many-Body Physics", located at the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna. My research interests are at the interface between Quantum Information and Computation on the one hand and the Physics of Complex Quantum Many-Body Systems on the other hand. In my work, I consider the mathematical, physical, and computational aspects of these systems, and I enjoy closely combining these different perspectives, as well as analytical and numerical approaches, to get a most comprehensive understanding of those systems.
Biography
Prior to joining the University of Vienna in October 2020, I was a tenured Research Group Leader at the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany and Lecturer at the Technical University Munich, and before that a Tenure-Track-Professor at the Institute for Quantum Information at RWTH Aachen University. More information can be found in my CV, and in the list of previous group members and theses.
